As the industry moves to become more sustainable, one of the easiest and most essential steps is to reduce it’s food waste. Productions regularly throw away hundreds of pounds of food a day, simply because there are no other viable options.
According to the organization Earth Angels, the average large-budget film production wastes an estimated 72 tons of food.
Hosting or donating to a community fridge is protected under the Good Samaritan Laws. There has never been a lawsuit filed in the US against a business hosting a community fridge.
